Monday -- Back to work

Today we had teams out visiting schools, teaching quilting, digging gardens, carpentry repair and visiting kids in the Art Building Children's Dreams project- see their blog at abcdreams.blogspot.com
I was on desk repairs, a bit of carpentry. We rehabilitated about 14 desks with parts of others (tops, seats, runners etc. Think of the oldest schooldesk you can, and then older- 2 kids to a desk, no inkwells )and new parts we made ourselves- chiseling out mortises in 2 x 4 inch eucalyptus wood, and ripping benches and other parts from 1 1/2 inch wood. tough work.
We then found that we need to do about another 35 desks.
Peter will go to town tomorrow and try to source lumber cut to size, but we aren't very optimistic. Here we may not even find screws!

The power outs slow down the communications too.
